I called a number that was on caller ID. Judging by the name with it I gave it a stab in the dark and asked for my daughter. I gathered by the receptionist asking who was calling that indeed I was right. "Uh..her Mom." Yea, I was taken off guard even if I guessed right. I don't like to call her at work, in fact never have but it was very strange that she called me from the work number and not her cell number. I was put on hold, trying to imagine why she might have called me... in case you hadn't noticed, I am a worrier. Then the receptionist came back and said, "I'm sorry Ma'am, she's with a patient right now. May I have her call you back when she's done?" My daughter, my youngest child..my baby is.. with a patient. She's made it.. okay, a medical assistant in a children's heart clinic, with hopes of becoming a nurse but she's not laying around the house.. she's not at McDonalds and not making a future for herself.. she's.. with a patient, how... cool is that? |

| wordnerd September 8, 2006 02:04 PM PDT It must feel so wonderful to breathe that sigh of relief knowing your child is going to be okay...I know we never stop worrying, but this has to feel really, really good!!! Michele sent me today, but you'll notice I've been lurking about quite a bit on my own lately... | ||
| Utenzi September 8, 2006 02:00 PM PDT That is very cool, Sol. Responcibility and growing up is great to see in our children. Too often it's McDonalds, as you point out, so it's reason to celebrate when ambition rises higher than "you want fries with that?" Michele sent me over, Sol. Congrats! | ||
| Paige September 8, 2006 11:46 AM PDT That is really cool! I still like the idea that my daughter has a job. Of course she is 28 but she is the only daughter that has one. Come to think of it only one son has a job. What is up with this? Oh yeah, here by way of Michele's Happy weekend | ||
| Carmi September 8, 2006 10:48 AM PDT Your pride flows through in your writing. It's heartening to see an entry like this - it reinforces the joys of parenthood, and how we wish that our kids will ultimately exceed us. Visiting from Michele's today. Great to e-see you. | ||
